hi
I think that $3.95 for a ringtone is a little steep, is there anywhere that i can get free stuff for my sanyo 8100, like games ringtones or pictures or anything of the sort.
Any help would be much appreciated.

if you can get yourself a cable, you can send ringtones from your PC into phone.

if you don't have a cable, then your coice is: you can either download from downloadcentral @ $3.95 or you can download from another site and pay the data rate (i think it's currently 5c a kB you'll have to check)

I got the cabel for this phone off ebay for only $25 including delivery. Was a score and it works great for syncing the phonebook

now for the but....

You can only fit 3 ringtones in the pcsync category and there is no way to move them out. pretty silly if you ask me, you can put your pics on or off the phone but you cant transfer games. This is annoying since you dont even get any with the phone,

joe_90 if you find a wap site offering ringtone downloads, the ringtones will need to have been tailored to the sanyo scp8100.
if you can't download, then either the ringtones aren't for your phone, or there's something wrong with the wap site

what wap sites have you tried?

If anyone manages to find any that work out cheaper than the telecom ones it would be great if you could post the site

well, if you won't have a cable, then downloading by WAP from another site is likely to cost you at least $2 once you add in all the browsing to find the ringtone you want....

there are some $1.95 ringtones around in downloadcentral..

i tried a couple of sties that people were throwing around like tag tag, zedge, this one called polyphonicringtonez.com but it didnt work. im a bit lost so maybe ill just have to go to download central to get ringtones and stuff.

You can not directly download a file. The Sanyo uses what they call a file descriptor (GCD) , this is downloaded first and in the file it tell the handset the file type size and URL. etc

EG

Content-Type: audio/midi
Content-ID: ringer
Content-Name: My Song
Content-Version: 1.0
Content-Vendor: sanyo.com
Content-URL: http ://www. sanyo.com/mysong.mid
Content-Size: 3430

There are some Site on they web at provided these files for download

Im not sure if it works on the Sanyo, but there is a web site, ringtonenation.com/wap. Seems to work on the Nokias, Kyocera's, Hyundai TX95c....

i tried that ringtonenation and it didnt work so ill just have to settle for whatever xtra has to offer, which isnt much of what i like. it would be good if you were able to request a ringtone.
