I was bored at work today so grabbed 3 phones from the cupboard and had a play with SMS.

027 Nokia 2280
021 Nokia 6310i
025 Nokia 8260

I sent "BAL" to 777 (or 200 on the T'Com ones to get a reply message from network.)

and waited.

the 025 sent the message within 2 seconds, within 5 it had also recieved the reply message.
the 021 sent the message within 4 seconds, within 10 it had also recieved the reply message.
the 027 sent the message within 10 seconds, within 28 it had also recieved the reply message.

Why is it that the 027 took so much longer to send the message than the 025 especially!!!!!!! I'm pretty shocked and this was quite consistent.

Here We are bagging 025. It's dammed fast for txt's. I'm quite impressed..

any comments or explanations welcome!

Only thing I can think of is 025 (AMPS) and 027 (CDMA) have their own SMS servers, and of course with CDMA having the best deal on Text it will take longer due to the load going through it.

Sometimes when I text with my 027 phone the text will send in 1-2 seconds, sometimes it will take maybe around 10 seconds to send, guess it comes down to network load and conditions?

I just tested my 027 and got about 7 seconds round trip from 'send' to 'beep beep'.
