hi all getting a new phone not because i want to but my P990i just packed up big time, well should have known it's been crappy for the last 2 yrs!!!

so am gonna go back to Nokia phone but these 2 seems to b closely matched just wondering if anyone out there has any feedback on either of these

have chk reviews in gsmarena etc but I would HATE to get another phone like the P990 that hangs and many many other bugs that a $1400 phone should not have.

Ta!

Either of the 2 phones will be better than the SE P990

I have an E71 but have also spent quite a bit of time playing with a 5800.

Both phones are aimed at different users and have different features. The 5800 is a music / multimedia device whereas the E71 is aimed at being a business handset.

You really need to decide what features you want - E71 for example does VoIP and has better Symbian application support, a lot of applications won't work with S60v5 yet.

The E75 looks like the killer Nokia to have right now!

GPS itself is free - the phone finds it location from the GPS satellites orbiting earth.

It can take time for the GPS to find your location and GPS won't work indoors which is where A-GPS comes in, if you have this enabled the phone establishes a short data session to an A-GPS server and finds your location from the mobile network and then using the built in GPS.

GPS is free. (the signals from the satellites, and use of 99.9% of receivers - I'm sure there'll be some out there that have some sort of subscription based 'added functionality' from a web site, but why you'd buy one is beyond me)

e:f,b. But:

sbiddle: ... GPS won't work indoors ...

Not entirely true. depends on what roofing technology you have, and what GPS chipset is in use. A friend could get a 3M fix in his old house with a very old GPS12. And in his new, very metallic showroom at his work, he can get a 4-5M fix with a SiRFstar III chipset garmin. Granted, not likely that'll be the same in a mobile device :)
