Hi from the latest newbie on Geekzone!

I've just today received my new Sanyo 7400 and need some easy to understand guidance on the possibility of downloading a ringtone from a .wav or midi file from my computer as a ringtone.

I've already noticed the the USD 2.0 cable won't fit in the USB port on the base of the phone - do i HAVE to but the specific Sanyo USB cable and the SnapMedia software download to be able to reach ringtone nirvana?

Cheers and thanks for any help offered!

ps - any good/bad things to report re the 7400?

Hi - head to the CDMA Forum and you will get loads of replies.
I dont think you will have much luck in downloading ringtones from a third party into the 7400 in NZ (though I would love to be proved wrong).

You can record video and sound with the onboard mic and cam, and use the resulting sound as a ringtone.

Hey Dis

here's some help i got from Pr0fess0r on this forum:

OK, what you need to do is:
1. Go to http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/
2. Enter the song name in the description field in the "Upload Images, Sounds etc" area
2. Click the "Choose File" button next to the word "Filenmae" and select your Midi file
3. Leave "Send to" blank, and click "Upload File"

Your file will upoad and you'll be taken to the http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/upload.php page where you'll be given a Jump code

1. From the Sanyo, go to Web and browse to http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/jump.php
2. Enter the Jump code from the web page and press Go

This should transfer the file to your phone where you can save it as a ringer

Good luck, let me know if you get stuck

Oh, you can do this with jpegs too, and if you go to http://midlet.org/ you can get java games as well and upload them the same way...

Thanks again Pr0f!

Hope this helps Dis - worked a treat even for a numpty like me

While this method will work fine (downloading via WAP) just remember that WAP charges for Telecom are just over $50 per MB. Don't start downloading too much or you'll be in for a serious shock!
