Still would have liked to connected some dirt cheap phones from China (around $20nzd for a few CDMA phones).... would have made a good cheap second phone then.

(Of course you can't connect phones imported from overseas :( )

I imagine that stocks of the 8100 would be very limited, as they're probably clearing them out to make way for the 8200.

The Nokia 3205 is also a steal at $150. They were $400 only six months ago!

Hi,
I'm thinking about getting either the Sanyo 8100 or, Hyundai TX115c but am unsure which to buy. Does anyone know if the predictive txt in either model allows you to save your own words so they will be used automatically in the future?

Also, which phone would you recommend in general? I like the colour screen on the outside of the sanyo, but the camera on the Hyundai is better I think, and also with a flash. Is this important or is the difference between the cameras unimportant because they are both pretty low quality anyway?

Thanks for your help...

The TX115 allows you to add words to the dictionary. A lot of people don't realise that it's possible, but whenever you type something in using manual text entry, it automatically stores the word in the custom dictionary. I'm not sure whether the 8100 has a custom dictionary, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't.

In general, I prefer the 8100 but I don't really use the camera on my TX115 so I can't really comment on that aspect.

The Hyundai's Flash is crap it only works VERY close up. I'd get the 8100.

Ok, I'd be greatful if people could give me some opinions.

I'm looking at these phones, I was going to get a Nokia 3205 in the weekend, but my GF brought a 8100 (last one in CHCH apparently) and after seeing the much larger screen I decided I rather liked that instead. Of course they've since sold out (unless anyone knows where I can get one?? :) ) so I'm back to square one. I like the nokia from a indivuality point of view (and the possiblity of creating my own tones, wall paper ect sounds good, just $30 for an IR reciver), but am now hateing the small screen so am looking towards getting the hyundai tx115c instead.

Pros - hyundai tx115c - Bigger screen,
Nokia - IR downloading, covers ect

Cons - hyundai tx115c - don't really like the outside design (could live with it), Keys seem hard to txt with (haven't used a working model).
Nokia - small screen , keys (but have used a working model and could get use to it)

Really I only use my phone to Txt, but I would prob use the camera for random shots (quality not really an issue, if I want quality I'll use my digital camera), and will most likely get some games.

The real pain is that I really need to have decided by tomorrow, since I need a new phone.

So based on all that what do you think? Thanks for any help :)

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, just looking around it seems to have more games, the lack of trutones is a bit :( but if I can record and use sounds as a tone I could live with that... (is that even possible? Really I just want a unique txt alert)

Anyway, anyone got any Pros for the hyundai?

(is the hyundai tx115c called something different too? can't find any mention of it elsewhere in the world..)

Yep, grab the 3205. The buttons aren't an issue, you get used to them faster. Plus they pxt better, and just rock like a mofo.
