Is it possible to edit the T9 predictive text library on one of these Nokia 6120 classics?

I am sick of typing "how" and it coming up "gox" and other annoying things.

try creating a new message

type the word that you want (in this case how) - when you get "gox" change the word to how.
insert a <space>
type the word again, insert a space, type the word again.

Eventually the word you want will replace the false word in the dictionary.  It might take 4 or 5 or more attempts but I've found that eventually it will replace it.

Close the message without saving.  Create a new blank message and check that it worked.

Alternatively you need a file editor and have to delete the dictionary from the root directory I think.

32 times it took!!

but it worked. It finally says how first up!

now I just have to do it for all the other problem words. Something to do when next time I am waiting at doctors or something!

Cheers!

Interesting.  On newer S60 phones it takes about 5 times.  On the older ones I havent heard of anyone needing to go past 20 times.

Alternatives:  Nokia's app.  Not sure how effective it will be on your phone.

Factory reset - but that will reset ALL settings and remove everything added to your dictionary.
Reflashing the phone with latest (or current) firmware.

Formating the phone - worse than a factory reset in you'll lose apps, contacts etc

You could use FExplorer or another freeware file manager to delete the dictionary file (found in C:\predic on my phone).  Ideally you'd prefer to edit rather than delete the dictionary???

I found a good way to do this:

Download Nokia Custom Dictionary
Export all the words
Edit the XML file to remove the words you don't want
Delete the .dat file in c:\predic
Turn phone off, then on again
Reimport the updated XML file to the phone
