Just wondering if either Vodafone or Telecom will be bringing out connect cards in the express card range? My laptop is quite new, and lacks a PCMCIA / PC Card slot, and only has a PC Express card slot, so I'm somewhat stumped.

Regards,

Torque

Been answered before - Telecom and Vodafone dont make data cards - they rebadge existing cards.  As this is the newer standard I would expect to see these in the near future.

We just have to wait for Telecom and Vodafone to ship these and I dont see any dates as yet.

You maybe able to find a USB (Universal Serial Bus) dongle/adapter that will let you plug in the EV-DO or UMTS PCMCIA card. Haven't seen one yet however.

One year old, but the webmaster at GSM Mobile NZ is reading Geekzone... This entry on GSM Mobile NZ showed up just moments after this comment here. I wonder who is the webmaster on that site, what username he uses here on Geekzone?

GTRAN DotSurfer...

freitasm; I just finished reading Peter's review on the Gtran card. Can you just confirm for me, or anyone else reading this for that matter, can Aircards receive faxes via applications such as winfax pro?? (I should really know this =S)

The G-Tran card is also subsided by Telecom IF the user can prove they are experiencing coverage issues with the existing Sierra Wireless 580 Aircards, but if your computer does not have a PCIMA slot then I don't see why a telecom shop will not order these for a customer. Might try to confirm that tomorrow.

Cheers

I noticed you changed the post - I received both the original and the updated copies via e-mail. Active moderation! Anyway, sbiddle's quote is now orphan - the original post is not the same as his quote...

So, you are not the webmaster at GSM Mobile NZ, are you?

I didn't write the review, that was Peter's... The GTRAN DotSurfer is available from Telecom stores and from pccard.co.nz. Look for jpwise here in the forums, he could answer this for you.
