Hey,

my Hyundai tx95c broke and I need a new phone, I was looking at some on trade me and there where some Tx115c's, prepay, for around $80-$100, is this a good deal for that phone?

I also saw a 8200 for quite cheap aswell. And I was thinking maybe about a LG NX225 or a Nokia 6235.

If anyone can tell me which is the best and say pro's cons etc i'd be greatly apriciated. Also out of the flip tops I said, which would be the 'less bulky'?

I can't comment on the NX225 or the 6235, but I can comment on the other two:

Hyundai TX115 : Reasonably pleasant to use, I was not impressed that the speaker died when it was only about six months old. There have been a lot of reliability issues reported with this handset, so buying a used one may be risky.

8200 : Extremely well constructed, great battery life, good sound quality (both on the earpiece and speaker) and very easy to use. I'd be struggling to think of anything to critisize, although the external antenna is annoying when it gets snagged on things, and the keypad didn't seem to give very good feedback.

If I had to choose between the two, it would be an easy choice.

LG is nice size, and easy to use, with lots of good features for its price, but it is slooooow (i.e. not particularly fast to do things when you press the keys).

Im ok with it, but a hardcore texter would give up on it.

8200 would be a better choice. Steer clear of TX115c IMO. 6235 is nice, but the toggle switch for updownleftright-ok is very small and fiddly, no good for big thumbs...

TX115, forget it, too old, Poor screen and really quiet sound, any you buy now might need a new battery possibly meaning big $$$

(LG), Lovely size and smooth lines and lovely exterior, I really like the look and shampe. nice large clicky buttons, shame the SLOW horrid menu and software just ruin an otherwise very nice phone.

Sanyo 8200, out of the suggestions I'd pick this.
Menu's are very responsive and keypad is excellent. uses an interesting software approach which is very responsive and kinda like Windows. (dialog menu's a plenty) They have designed these to be easy to use, plus there is push to talk and a very capable speakerphone.... on the bad side, any customizing is rather locked down to purchasing content from Telecom and there is no infrared/bluetooth.

Nokia, 6235, Good phone, highly user customizable too, just load ringtones on and record music to use as tones., Shame the poky small keypad and nasty joystick (WHY Nokia! everyone HATED them on Sony-Ericsson) ruin an otherwise very nice phone.

If you can possibly stretch it, or get it secondhand at a similar pricing to the 8300 the Sanyo 5600 1gb is a nice mp3 player too. 1.3Megapixel camera and has a gorgeous screen..
Also consider the Nokia 6155 though it's climbing up in pricing for a mid range phone with a 1 Megpix camera

Pantech TX-215C Forget it,, just a rehash of the TX 115

Hyundai TX95c, was a great phone in the day, just too old now.

Pantech TX130c if obtained cheap is certainly worth a look though it is chunky.

Samsung n391 Forget it, Too old and too slow.

Nokia 3205 Too old and Terrible camera and even worse screen

Nokia 6225 Too old, all the above and poky keypad.

Yep... $200 is a good deal on that first one. I bet someone uses buynow... it might as well be you...

Prices vary between $176 and $250 on TM for this model.

the sanyos are not the smallest of phones, but they are solid, and have nice form, and feel much nicer to hold.
you might get one at $180 but the chances are slim. The extra $20 would be worth it to me to just get the deal done... i hate auctions... lol

I'm deciding between the Nokia 6235 and the Sanyo 8200.

Pro's and cons of each? Which has better camera quality? Which takes a nicer photo? Do they both have zoom and flash?

I would choose the Sanyo over the Nokia. Sanyos are well built, insanely easy to use, and honestly seem better quality than basic Nokias do these days. (In spite of me still being a Nokia fan...)

I'm thinking of buying this skin http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=57905143 for the sanyo, to hide the scruffs and jazz it up a little. Worth it??? What are these plastic skin cover things like?

also check out http://www.skinit.co.nz my g/f just got hers today - jellybeans for her 6255. I think it looks okay, but i dont think she is that happy with it, although she said she saw them on Sanyos the other day and they looked fab+...

Why pay more? The auction starts at $15, while SkinIt lists the skin for the Sanyo 8200 (and other models) for $14.99, with the option of paying $5 more and uploading your own design?

Check retailers before buying things on Trademe. If the auction starts at $15 (which is already more expensive than SkinIt), how much would this thing end up costing?
