I have been using my Nokia 2730 with a Bluetooth handsfree for a while now, but I also see that my 'phone can take calls using the Loudspeaker function.

However, to get that one has to first push the Options button, then select up or down and push the Speaker function, by which time a caller has probably hung up .

Is there a way to 'shortcut' the Speaker function to a single button push?

Hi, sure, that's fine if holding the 'phone, but I'm thinking of when I may be driving a vehicle without Bluetooth link.

There is an option to assign short cuts to some keys have you tried going into
Menu-Setting-My Shortcuts?

Kinda figured you would have been there, but worth a question.

On my old CDMA 6255 with the flip closed the camera key doubled as the key to activate the loudspeaker.

I have seen some models where button above either the calling (Green) button or call end (red) button will activate loudspeaker while a call is in progress.  To exit loudspeaker mode you press that button again.  Perhaps that might be the case on the 2730 as well.  When you are on a call the screen label for that button changes from "Menu" for example, to show "Speaker".

You will need to answer the call first then choose loudspeaker.  Setting the "Any Key Answer" helps as well.

I tried a few buttons to see if that would happen, but no luck ... the three choices I have are Options (leading to Speaker), Answer, and Silent. Getting the Silent option to be swapped for Speaker would be the ideal but cannot find anyway to do that.

For true handsfree, a single button rather than Answer then Speaker is required.

Thanks anyway,

R.

i didnt think you were allowed to use speaker phone as a handsfree solution, what about using the headset it came with in the box, that works fine

Speaker is handsfree, no problem there as I have the phone sitting in a cradle and pushing one button on it is no difference to pushing the Answer button on the Bluetooth unit.

I was trying not use the additional hardware of an earpiece and wires etc.

The simnple answer seems to be, keep using the Bluetooth unit and/or buy a Bluetooth earpiece ... or another phone with better Speaker capability .

By Jove, Watson, you are correct!!

The rightsoft key shows the SILENT option when a call comes in, and I was trying to Answer AND use Speaker in one button push ... obviously it is a two button procedure.

Pleased you found it at last.

You might have misunderstood me but this is what I was trying to say last night about the keys above the green call or red call end buttons.

Hope it does what you want.  Smile

Techno,

Yes, you are right I didn't spot where you said ' .. call in progress ..' as I was still focused on doing it all with just one button push.

Thanks,

R.
