Omg! I had ordered from TechBrands (which was 'very!!' stupid!!) on the 28/12/2011 and got my payment cleared on the 9th of January 2012. Was told it would come next week..next week.. no parcel, called and they again said next week!. next week...no parcel.. called again and they said their supplier couldn't ship because they were on holiday from Chinese New Year, so I ordered a refund. They had approved it and on my status it says 'Awaiting Refund'. Each day I check on them by email and 'Kristina' said she could not tell me anything but would let me know as soon as she knew something.' Two days (26/01/2012) later i email to check up and the email says "The TechBrands pacific office has ceased trading and is now closed! Will check emails daily and respond as soon as we can.." Then I email 'brad.roberts@techbrands.co.nz' and he says I now have to go through the Disputes Tribunal to get my claim!!

Has anyone else having a similar problem?? Please help!!
(I was sooo dumb to purchase with them in the first place!!) AAAAAAAHH!

Fair Go were looking for people who had issues or had been involved with Techbrands, they had a post on their facebook page last week on the 20th of January :

Fairgo: Anyone had any dealings with Tech Brands? we'd like to hear from you if you have fairgo@tvnz.co.nz

They might be able to help you or provide you with more information, it seems from their pricespy reviews there have been many people that have had issues, I hope you get your money back!

I am going through the transaction disputes process with my credit card company. Did you pay by credit card or internet banking? If they had ceased trading surely the website would say so? The website is still taking orders.....

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

In very faint text at the bottom of the website....

"Unfortunately Tech Brands is unable to take any further orders at this time. We appologise for the inconvenience this may cause and invite you to come back at a later date."

Huh.... completely missed that..... I emailed Fair Go with my tale of woe.... Hard case reading the Fair Go Tech Brands wall post. Most of the comments are about Noel Leeming.

Well, the dumb part of that was giving them cash. Credit card purchases can be reversed relatively quickly anytime and the credit card company takes the hit if turns out that way.

Pretty sure the same applies to debit cards as well, which would make them well worthwhile if you don't want or can't get a credit card.

I think if the company is insolvent then you go to the back of line with the unsecured creditors. I am really wondering if their international supplier did a runner. I can't quite figure out why all the stock just dried up suddenly...

Oh yeah. Didn't realise there was an age qualification. Just checked with ASB and Kiwibank. 15 or older required. I wonder why they do that?

I was wondering that too, did some digging,

Turns out the original director, Isaac died back in November last year, leaving his wife Lina(who has only ever posted once, and that was spam, here) to run it by herself.  She gave in and left it up to his two mates to run, who have screwed it completely!

Just hope everyone manages to get their money back, that used them in the past.

I never did, always felt something wasn't quite right with that company

So what happened to your money??

Also isn't debit card the same as credit card except it uses your own money (which is good)? So it should have the same security features?

I think he means he never used them because (rightly so) he felt they were dodgy.
