I updated tivo #2 yesterday and is now the main tivo, Tivo #1 yet to be done.

As #2 is fairly fresh there was no to season passes etc.

When I swapped them over I added my usual fishing shows, country calender, fair go and for SWMBO married at first sight.

While cooking dinner country calendar and MAFS did not start recording.

If I go to the To Do list they are showing as nothing to record.

If I go to view upcoming episodes they are all there.

Has anyone seen this?

Would you think a clear and delete would fix this? If so how would I do this.

regards

John

info...
I have guide data up to midnight 14th November. Two weeks of guide from Oct 31.
after that it says to be advised so I guess I'm still on the original mothership guide data.
I already had Tivo modded ready to go and patched it straight away on the morning of 1st Nov.

Nope, I upgraded one during the week, hadn't tried a season pass until tonight, set one up 10 mins ago and it appeared in the to do list like it should, and started to record as expected.

Did you leave the same HDD in the same Tivo as they are paired encryption wise and cannot be swapped without a full clear.

Or, when you connected to the network did you get the oztivo new message to show that you are connected.

Also, it takes ages for the box to index, as like I say, I had done one during the week, so had been up and running for several days now.

When setting up season passes, there are 2x very important things to consider. Currently many peoples EPG's will contain a mixture of data from the old mothership and the new OzTivo motherships. Unless you've gone to the the "Restart or Reset System" menu and cleared Program Data and the To Do list, you're going to have some season passes that work and some that don't. This is what you may expect

Secondly, because of where the EPG data has been sourced from, and since this is a work in progress, when setting up Season Passes, I've found that you need to choose the default option of "Repeats & first-run" rather than "First-Run"only". Otherwise, at this stage, your Season Pass may not work. Check the "To Do list" to see what's going to happen.

I upgraded three machines over the weekend.

Chip quik is expensive but very effective at removing the chip with very low risk of damage to the PCB (or the chip, but that is not important).

I used solder paste and hot air to solder the replacement chip in.  I didn't use the socket as it was easier to just solder the chip directly to the PCB.

I have two spare sockets if anyone happens to need them.

The only problem was with the last Tivo I did when I didn't plug the hard drive back in properly after updating the software (doh!).

Is there anybody in Christchurch that would be able to supply and replace the chips in my TiVo's (4 of them)

I'm confident that I can handle the software upgrade, but the chip replacement is beyond me I am afraid.

Thanks, Kevin

Is anyone in Napier/Hastings area offering chip replacement services? Are there any other Tivo users in Hawkes Bay?

I'm another Hawkes Bay Tivo user.   Not sure I am going to upgrade yet or not. Dont record a lot of TV and with TVNZ and TV3 on demand available as apple TV apps now I can get most things anyway.

So powered it down at moment and just using TV. Will see how we go over next week.

I too am a TiVo user in HB!  I'm currently weighing up getting a chip and holder and having a go myself using a technique someone posted earlier cutting the legs off the chip, removing the legs individually then soldering the holder in its place.  I saw reference to the chip and holder as only being a few dollars each and this technique looked like something I could do with my basic soldering skills.  However if someone locally with more confidence would like to do it for a dozen beer...

I wonder if it is time for a sticky post somewhere with a list of people, and locations, who are willing to offer their service as a Tivo Chip changer?

I found that Chipquik themselves were probably one of the best options:  http://www.chipquik.com/store/ but wherever you go, it's pretty expensive stuff. The one you want is SMD1 here: http://www.chipquik.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=210001 but count on paying US$30 landed for 1x kit which should be good for about 10x PROMS. They do get it to you very quickly or quikly - around 5 days each time I've ordered it.

This is a great idea, because as I have found out the hard way that we need to separate the people who are hijacking the spirit of the tivo community ( those that have put countless hours into making this happen all at no cost and then allowing a FREE software patch ) for their own business needs.
There's a number of people here offering to do everything, PromChip and install the software patch for under $25 or even at cost, so these people should be included in any sticky note.

Agreed, Like myself those offering the prom change out service have usually spent quite a bit on additional equipment to be able to perform the task. Recovering a little cost would not hurt. (I would hope)
