I too replaced an image from one of backups on the new Tivo I got last night using WinMFS

This was using a stock Tivo GREEN drive.

Everything appears to have worked, taking me back to the set up screen.

BUT this was a stock Tivo drive.

FlanManNZ:
TonyS071: I must be missing something, but has the concept of putting a redirect into the home router that intercepts requests from a stock standard TiVo that are heading toward the nz mothership and sending them instead to the new Aussie one been considered?
Can domestic routers even do that?

The traffic was encrypted. That’s why the mod was required.

Surprised at this, as I had heard the TiVo processor is quite limited in grunt so having to decrypt the epg traffic all the time would have been a large overhead for it. And the information transferred was (and is) available in the public domain so why bother?
And the mod achieves much more than that, it switches mothership location as well as adding some new toys.

Has anyone tried a NAT? The mothership is going to see the same source IP adddress if it's the TiVo direct or via a NAT In the router, so traffic coming back to me shouldn't be a problem..

If your Tivo is showing Pre-Daylight Saving Time (i.e the displayed time in System Information is one hour out) , check this out.

A modification has been made to the emulator (OzTivo mothership) to resolve this problem being seen by some modified Tivo owners. This has been happening in some cases, if your Tivo wasn't connected when Daylight saving started this year, and some have seen it after a Clear & Delete.

Please try the following in this order, and report back what you needed to do, to resolve it. If the problem is resolved at step 1  (Check the System Information menu when you've done this) don't progress to the next step. If not, progress to step 2 and recheck and so on.

1. Try a manual connect to the mothership by going to the Network menu, and connect to the Tivo service

2. Try a new Guided Setup from the Restart or Reset System Menu.

3. Try a Clear & Delete followed by a Guided Setup. Note: You'll lose your recordings and HNP if you have one.

I really wish I had tried this while the "NZ" mothership was alive.. I used quotes, as it seems the NZ mothership was actually in Aussie all along.
My unmodified TiVo is still trying to connect daily and looking at my router logs, its trying to connect on 27.111.254.111
Doing a Whois or a traceroute on that ip points over the Tasman...
Ping to that address goes unanswered, but that doesn't prove anything, they would probably have had that shutdown all along anyway.

Can someone with a modified TiVo please look into your router outgoing log and either post or pm me the new mothership ip address?
If you look in the router client dhcp table first (assuming you are using dhcp), you should be able to see the local IP address your TiVo is using, this should simplify your search.

Thanks.

I had to do a full clear and delete #3 to fix mine.

I was having all sorts of guide problems, no guide, guide in 3 days etc..

Now mine is stable with a full 7 day guide.

I lost HNP but I've never used it anyway.

Nope, it hasn't been modified. I want to try an experiment and see if I can redirect the internet traffic being sent from from my unmodified TiVo to be sent to the new mothership instead. To do that I need the Iv4 IP adddress (assuming its using IPv4) of the new mothership, not its dial code. Xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I rate my Chances of success low, but a line of code in a router would be WAY simpler than having to unsolder/resolder proms and hard drive patching. I already killed one TiVo going down that route...

If you ask on the OzTivo forum someone might be able to help, but I think thats already been tried, It was something to do with the mod and the chip that has to be replaced.

I can say that a number of pretty clever people have already explored that route without success. I don't know the specifics, but it was hoped a simpler method the the current one would work.

If it's cohosted with their web site (big IF) , it's probably 178.62.41.248, but if someone with a modded one could confirm, that would be cool ..
