It looks like I have just received a TiVo update!
The problem is that it just occurred during our nightly TV watching....
At 8:50 the TV went black. After a moment of awkwardness a TiVo startup screen. Then a 'just a few minutes' screen showed up. After waiting way too long the TiVo Startup Movie played. Afterwards the TiVo was back to normal.

Weird, has this happened to anyone else?

Sounds like a crash.

Unless you know what version you had before and what you have now, I'd go with the crash option as well.

Updates normally happen over nite with a 2.00am reboot. Sounds like a crash to me. Hope it doesn't come up with the Grey Screen of Death (GSOD)

Minor power outage? Certainly doesn't sound like an update.

No updates our end, unless it's a brand new TiVo and it's playing catch up.

As fantastic as TiVo's are, the are still at their core a computer and do occasionally hiccup.

If this is a one off, my apologies, if it continues to reboot, contact the Telecom support line
