Hi all
I am looking for users thoughs, impressions, and issues with transferring and PLAYING downloaded video on the Tivo. Are their settings I need to set on the Tivo to maximise the playback quality, are there issues with transcoding by the Tivo. Should I reencode myself? I have transferred one program , The Bachelor (Ok, I know) and the playback quality was poor, like a low res, low quality sound playback. A friend has sent a small number to his Tivo and thy were fine

Resolution, file size and duration please??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

I haven't had many quality issues (if any) using pyTivo to transfer clips to the TiVo from a low spec Windows Home Server PC. pyTivo does the coding and has worked great so far. Anything from short clips to movie length videos.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

The one example is 1 hr 24 mins, 624x352, 29.97 frames, 698Mb
Looks good on laptop, and fine on 50" Viera plasma played on WDTV

The tivo will be in bedroom, so being a oart time media player is desired

My understanding on this would be

1. Everything you push from PC to TIvo via Home networking package will be transcoded to MPEG2.
2. If you use third party software to rip DVD and then push the riped file to tivo via HME, it still would be same quality.
3. Home network package doesn't have any option to adjust the Vidoe quality.

Yes, underwhelming

The transcode was poor, clearly not happy with the Xvid source. And slow.

While I can transcode myself, the time and effort and time to wifi to Tivo is too much hassle. When compared to my WDTV, which I may get another. I will try pyTIVO which is very good I understand. The transfer to laptop may be worthwhile occasionally

My best result is converting any file to MPEG2 using WinAVI that preserves the quality nicely and same result when transferred to TIVO using TivoDesktop, which is now only sending.
