Hi All,
Our fax machine has died, and rather than buy a new one that prints out the faxes, I would like to install a fax modem that would be attached to a secondary server (probably actually a Win7 Pro or Ubuntu machine) and have it receive all incoming faxes.
That seems fairly easy.
However, what I would then like to have it do is send those faxes on to our mail server via smtp (they would all go to a single mailbox - faxes@example.com).
My preference for the software side would be free and / or open source as I don't actually have a budget for this - I'll have to 'borrow' from another budget code.
I can find a modem for $40 such as this:
DSE - USB Modem
This is just an example - I am not fixed on that particular modem.
I would guess that it would work with Win7 Pro easily, but then what software do I need to get the faxes to the mailserver?
Alternatively, perhaps finding the software might be easier on Ubuntu, but will the modem work?
I have looked at using an external party to receive the faxes and forward them on by email, but would prefer to keep it internal if possible.
Thanks for any suggestions or advice,
Alan.
