Hi, my very old very cheapo tripod broke last night. I think the weight of the camera peeled the attachment off the tripod itself!

I know you get what you pay for, but i really don't have money to spend right now, what is an ok cheap tripod (<$100, the cheaper the better, eg $40 is great).

Or if someone could point me to a place that has a range in that price bracket?

Maybe I'm asking too much (little)?

Be cautious of the trademe offerings, many are of very poor quality and you would need to be around 5ft or less to use them comfortably.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Try this website . It's run by a friend of mine, good quality and great value stuff generally.

Where are you located?

I generally get my photo gear by (e-)mail order from Photo & Video International www.photo.co.nz in Christchurch.

They've got some Velbon tripods under $100.

There are good shops in the other major centres too.

No need to take a chance on TradeMe if you're not confident of what you're buying.

I see there's now a Photo Warehouse in Dunedin, and they have a few Cullmanns and Velbons under $100 listed on their Web site.

AFAIK all the major photo shops in the main centres will ship around NZ.

Either way, you're dealing with reputable companies, you've got the protections of the Consumer Guarantees Act and so forth.
