Have a Chrome book here, which allows me to login to a terminal server no problem via the Chrome RDP app. Yet when I get a standard user to try logging in, instantly he gets a message "Could not connect to (terminal server). Please Try again"

If i enter an incorrect password, I get prompted for the password again - so its like it knows the user if he uses wrong password, but using right password gives the above error, which you'd normally expect to see if the server wasnt responding etc.

Any ideas ?

So both are ChromeBooks? Same network or remote? And you're basically just having trouble connecting to a non-Admin account?

Have you checked the user is a member of the "Remote Desktop Users" group?

Also try disable Network Level Authentication on the host: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732713(v=ws.11).aspx
