PB Tech stuffed up and sold me a Winbook instead of a Chromebook, for an educational BYOD. I didn't notice at the time, but I'd already told them I need a Chromebook.

The school says it must have a Chrome browser (well, yes) and "run Google Educational Apps".

I know most of G Suite is done via browser but can I install the apps, are there apps to install at all, or should I take this back?

I appreciate your answer, but you're answering a question I didn't ask. I won't take it back as it's not what I asked for, I'd take it back if it didn't run G Suite Apps. Does anyone know if I can run G Suite Apps?

It can run Chrome apps but not Android apps, it depends on if you need that capability. It'll be easier for the school if it's a Chromebook.

Everything in the Google suite of services runs in the browser, so it'll run fine on Windows.

Hi, yes it will run just fine, all GSuite Apps are in a browser, nothing outside of that.

When my kids were first using GSuite, they started on Chromebooks, but moved to Windows devices (they've been using Windows ever since).

They don't have any issues, other than the slower boot-up times of a lower-cost Windows machine (which gets tiresome and problematic far sooner than if they had faster machines).

Chromebooks are certainly a lot easier for the school to manage and also are faster and more convenient for school, but other than that, the Windows laptop should be fine.

My personal view is you make the right move, a low spec windows machine results in pretty cr@p experience, whilst the same hardware will run Chrome like a champ.
