As others have said, nails for large quantity jobs like fence palings as screws would be a bit of expense overkill. Last fence I built I was lucky enough to borrow a mate's Paslode nail gun. Otherwise I would just hire one.

Paslode gas, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of gas in the morning. The smell, you know that Paslode gas smell? The whole fence. Smelled like... victory.

LOL! But yeah, they're the standard. Running out of gas is a pain though. Are any of the battery nailers any good these days or are they only for staples and brads? I don't think I've seen one powerful enough for framing.

I have Dewalt framing and finishing electric nailers, and they're very capable. Gas is slowly going away.

Without even clicking the link I was fairly certain it'd be a Scott Brown video :-). For the person who originally asked, watch some of the videos he's done on the pros and cons of different types of nailers, he has a lot of experience with them and isn't being sponsored to comment one way or the other.

@Rikkitic if you've not already seen the tip somewhere, putting a touch of soap onto a screw allows it to drive in a lot easier.  I do this when driving in longer screws which gives more friction.

Yep, I now use drops of dish soap, less messy. Also allows it to glide through the wood fibres than scrunching through them. Always set the cordless drill clutch so you dont over tighten and thus drill out the wood, leaving low or no grip
