I'm sick of my toilet that always needs repairs so I'm getting a new one. I want something that looks modern- maybe square- one piece and flushes and stays clean and never clogs. Are there any certain brands that are known for quality in New Zealand? (My first chose was a Reves Kohler but then I looked up reviews on it and it was horrible- good thing I didn't by it)

Caroma.

As they are Australian designed for Australian / NZ conditions. And they have excellent spare parts support.

Lots of no name brands are designed for Chinese conditions (toilet paper is put into a bin next to the toilet instead of being flushed). And such toilets struggle to flush large clumps of paper.

Check if you have 80mm or 100mm outlet pipe on your toilet. As 80mm block up easily. If so, ask your plumber about upgrading it to 100mm.

All new toilets are designed to hold less water in the bowl. So unfortunately "Skid Marks" are a problem in any new toilet.
