I might require a relay and a capacitor for a Whirlpool fridge. Where is the best place in Auckland to get Whirlpool spares in stock?

I called Whirlpool and got a Philippine call centre who will only give the name of the nearest service agent. I'll call the nearest agent if I have to but suspect it will lead to a long process.

Model is WBM35 (MS) if that helps.

Ebay? They have companies selling all sorts of parts.

Not sure if these brand companies supply parts to retail customers direct.

I have used repairclinic.com in the us for ge parts

as i could not get ge parts here were very quick had it shipped by shipito.com

could be useful if u cant find a part in nz

None of the parts sites are showing this model. They do show relay part numbers, but I don't have a part number for the relay.

I will have to make some calls and see what that turns up.

Get an appliance repair person, unless you are suitiably qualified it is illegal to do any more than replace a fuse or the plug on the end of the cord

This morning. F&P no longer do Whirlpool parts and refer to the Whirlpool 0800.

The compressor starts ok when plugged in and runs with normal current consumption. The fridge reaches the correct closet temperature. On the second start (correctly trigged by temperature drop in the closet) the compressor is being supplied with power but refuses to go.

It is possible either the compressor is stuffed or alternatively the problem is with a blockage or similar problem in the refrigeration system providing too much resistance/pressure to allow the motor to start second time around or it could be a problem with the start circuit.

Investigation is ongoing as time allows.

I was thinking I could swap out the relay/overload if it is cheap enough to eliminate it. It sure looks like a cheap part ; ). It probably isn't and it will be time consuming to lay hands on one.

The compressor is a Tecumseh TPH1390YXC. I talked to a local appliance servicer who said Tecumseh relays are only supplied with the compressor. No doubt there is a good reason for that. Yet to talk to an official Whirlpool agent.

Try these guys... very established here in Christchurch. Always have a part for almost anything and they are willing to get the part in if they dont have it.

Their website is a bit amaturish however they dont rely on the web for their business (they favour local radio adverts and paper media)
Id give them a call and you might find they would be willing to help you. I noted that they support Whirpool.
