I need to replace the capacitor on a single phase 240VAC induction motor - it's in a Karcher waterblaster.

Other than the usual capacitance/voltage specs, is there anything else to be aware of for this sort of application?

You probably already know from a legal/safety standpoint an electrical registration is required to perform work of this nature.

There may be limited physical room available or it may be configured for a particular physical size. Personally I would call the agent and see what the genuine price is before making a decision.

That is the kind of thing you are looking for, as long as it is rated for motor start applications. You should also be able to find it from Surplustronics. Make sure you have the right dimensions, and you get them also with leads coming out of the can instead of terminals. Then there are metal cans and plastic cans, you might have a mains clearance issue if you replace a plastic can with metal. If you are stuck, post a photo of the capacitor and we can see what we can do.

Go somewhere like JA Russell or ideal, they have the correct ones for motors.

But what begs the question, how did you figure out that the capicator is the problem, there are several other posibilities in a single phase motor.
