We went on a bit of a spending spree this weekend during the new years sales.  I am ideally looking for the one trade who can provide the electrician and gas fitting services I require (does such a person exist?).  If anyone is or knows of such a tradesperson in the Auckland area, please let me know.

The work I require:

  • Remove existing rangehood and install new rangehood
  • Remove existing electric wall oven and install new electric wall oven which requires a minor cabinet adjustment as the new oven is slightly taller
  • Remove existing gas cooktop and install new gas cooktop.  The hole in the engineered stone bench it currently sits in requires enlarging by approximately 20mm around each side of the hole to accommodate the new cooktop.
I'd ideally like the one person to come and complete all the work rather than having to try and co-ordinate three different trades and pay for them to wait while each other completes their part.  Such a tradesperson may not exist but I thought I'd give it a shot at least.

These jobs are bigger than you think, and require specialized equipment.
Such a jack-of-all-trades tradesman does not exist.

I didn't say granite?  It is engineered stone.  6mm thick on wood.  From the replies I have received so far it looks like such a tradie doesn't exist.  Not the end of the world.

Gas fitters usually align themselves with plumbing companies. You would be hard pressed to find someone thats a certified gas fitter and electrician. I would recommend finding a builder who can adjust your bench top and ask them who they recommend as a electrician and gas fitter.

Gasfitters are aligned with plumbing companies because you do gasfitting as part of a plumbing apprenticeship. I am a plumber and gasfitter myself. I would love to also be a qualified Electrician as well. But I can't justify doing another full apprenticeship. Especially as I doubt that anyone would be willing to pay more per hour. (or at lease enough more). To justify another 3 years of poor apprentice wages.

Unfortunately I can't see your job ever being one that can be completed in a day. At least not for a cost effective price.

I know a good plumber/gas fitter as well as a good electrician.  Both work for themselves but have done a lot of work at my place.

pm me if you want their contact details. They are both based in the west Auckland area

the plumber might be able to cut the stone, (i have no idea) but he will know who can.
