Does anyone know where I can get this panel moulding inlay profile in Rimu in the Wellington region?

I been four places that I know off:

  1. Moulding and finishing wellington have sold out and don't stock this profile anymore because they have a new manufacturing supplier.
  2. City Timber, don't stock, nor do they supply this style of profile.
  3. Moxon Timbers, wanted to change me to make a custom knives of this profile and a minimum length was required to make it cost effective but making truly expensive.
  4. Mitre 10 Mega do have a similar profile but the dimensions don't match and they where charging nearly $10 per meter.

As far as I can tell it's just a standard Panel Inlay Moulding. The dimensions are aproximatly 27x10mm

Yea I would have said Moxon timbers over in Petone.
they have every tyep of timber you can think of and the ability to create moulds.
I guess if you wanted more in the future it would be good but if you only need a length or two I guess the cost would be excessive.

When trying to match skirting boards and scotia for our 1960's house I found all the new stuff was in metric and slightly the wrong size when compared with our original profiles which are imperial. Managed to find the correct profile at lots of places but it was always a few mill out compare with the original rimu stuff. Where it was meeting original timber had to get it from the demolition yard.

Sorry to say that they don't have the required profile.

I think I found the required profile http://shop.bungalowandvilla.co.nz/products/product/MER?category=QHJLBFDB However it's even more expensive to what what Mitre 10 sells it for.

Thanks for trying.

How much do you need? I may have a little will have to check tomorrow. Can you still get it in pine? In the past I've managed to fake Rimu using stain.

Currently I need a about 9 meters. I have not seen any thing get in Pine. Rimu is my preferred choice.

Sorry whatever is in my garage wouldn't add up to more than 3. What you will be paying for is the much bigger piece before it is cut to the profile. To think that a lot of the rimu milled on the West Coast before the forests were shut was sold as framing.
