Need to upgrade some plugs and switches, anyone got any recommendations for a good cheap supplier in Auckland?

good and cheap does not exist. Choose 1 and go with it. If you want safe stick to the electrical suppliers, stay away from the cheap rubbish from Bunnings and Mitre10

Depends on why you are upgrading. Look nice to sell the place? Cheapest you can find is all you need.

They all will (should?) meet standards, have test results, provide a SDOC for you so its legal to put trash sockets in, but there are things like terminal size, screws being made out of metal that is more like cheese, poor fitting plates, uneven gaps around the switch mechs etc on the cheap ones that the decent brands have all sorted out.

That is before you worry about longevity which IME is not that great on any of them, but is much worse on the economy brands.

For what its worth, the deta ones at bunnings seem fine in most respects, I did make the mistake of buying some goldair ones for a workbench I was building and they are just trash feeling.

I've always used https://www.electricaldirectltd.co.nz and found their prices really good and great service too.

I just replaced a bunch of old light switches and sockets with PDL600 gear from Electrical Direct. Great pricing and fast delivery.

Edit: make sure you're familiar with ECP51 before you start work. See http://www.energysafety.govt.nz/legislation-policy/electricity-acts-regulations-codes/standards-and-codes-of-practice/new-zealand-electrical-codes-of-practice

I've used them also - agreed on the service, and I thought their prices were OK for what I needed.

Electrical direct, or Corys if you can get a good deal out of them. PDL though would be my pick.

DO you have any experience with their new iconic range? Apparently according to their adverts, sparkies love it. The 600 range is good though, but a little pricey.
