Is it possible to replace only the bulb holder in a downlight? Its an old style downlight and the holder is screw type E27. One of the connector thingy broke. I cant change to LED or other type as im running hue bulbs in the other two, total 3 lights in the room.

time and energy spent fixing it would by far exceed buying a complete replacement fitting, it is still easy to buy down lights that take e27 lamps

Not sure about ones that go in that giant hole tho. Must lose a lot of heat out there. Perhaps consider losing the hues and get something sealed in there you can insulate over?

Probably not if you have a ceiling full of them, in order to get it to match. Otherwise you have to replace all the light fittings in the room, which is costly. But guess could save a lot on heating getting some IC ones.

It looks like one of the pretty standard ceramic e27 holders that are used extensively in sensor light holders etc. I pillaged a few from old sensor lights to change over some other lamps to take e27 which came with some oddball smaller US sized thread (wasnt e14, bit bigger) - some holders have the wires rivited on which means cant re-use for something else.
