Hello all. I have to rewiring my “ Classique tilt a hood “ circa 1970. Foolishly disconnected all and individually bunched by tape ( thought I was being clever) without taking an “ original as is “ photo. Now I have to put it all back together again. Without short circuiting the whole kitchen.
Any diagrams/ photos/ video sources would be so fantastic. Thanks.

Your gender is irrelevant.

What exactly are you disconnecting/reconnecting?
Are you removing it from the wall and putting it back, or are ripping the guts out and redoing all it's internal wiring.

I'am guessing this is a pull out rangehood, 240v,

If your not 100% certain where the wires came from please get an electrician.

Even for reconnection, you need to verify they are isolated.

Worst case you get the active in the earth and liven the case.

It's not that you're not capable, Few ppl get a 2nd chance with 240v

Hi, as per the topic and posted content, am requiring a photo/ diagram or utube video of how to rewire my Range hood. Remember 1970’s . I have only been in residence here a while so didn’t think it was a priority.
A decision was made not to install a new but to reconnect the old after cleaning the whole grease laden yuck.
It appears that after my efforts to assess the issue of why it was inefficient in the first instance was that the aluminium “door/ flap” leading to the outside vent. Was closed. Unsurprising now after the investigation. This is a strange addition and has a strong resistance to any ultra external airflow. Plus the fact that it had rusted and screws .. well these are stuffed.
Must address this issue also.
So to the rewiring.

Please answer my previous question. What exactly are you reconnecting.
I'm 90%sure I can help regardless of the existence of diagrams or photos.

I am however very concerned about the level of your abilities (I'm always wary of anyone having a go). At this point, I'm inclined to point you in the direction of your local electrician.

Must address this issue also.

The flap is an original feature not an addition. When moving freely it lifts up and lets air out when the fan is running and stops wind gusts blowing outside air back into the unit when the fan is off.

Since it is such an old rangehood, it will almost certainly be a very simple design electrically. Probally just some switches, 1 for the light, and if the motor has multiple speed settings, some switches that connect power to different tappings of the coils inside the motor. And maybe a starting capacitor, depending on what type of motor it has. Any electrician would easily be able to figure out how to wire it up again.

Even if you could find a circuit diagram for it, You would probably end up with something like this:

fan motor circuit diagram.

Which would make perfect sense to an electrician. But would be zero help if you wanted to know which colour wire is supposed to join to the middle terminal of the second switch (for example).

You either need to get an electrician in to do the job. Or if you are still serious about doing it yourself, you will need to post photos of exactly what wires / terminals etc need to be reconnected.

Alternatively get a new rangehood installed. They don’t actually last forever and if we are charitable 1980 - 2018 is a pretty good run.

I have one that old and it is still running well. I think the OP's one could have been running with the vent flap stuck shut if it is filthy inside. Normally shoving the aluminium screen into the dishwasher every now and then is enough. The pull out flap catches steam better than the usual flat hood but in extreme conditions some steam can condense on the flap and drip down on the front of the hob. The 60w max light behind a glass panel is a bit useless with a filament bulb so I've put a LED bulb in.
