Ok never mind, they look hard wired, I am going to see if they can be replaced with similar.

Is she renting a place? Cause in some Canadian provinces the landlord is required to have working smoke detectors installed.

I was just in Canada a few days ago. I think I saw some hardwired smoke detectors on sale at Costco.

 

 

 

If she hasn't got one, she may want to be picking up a carbon monoxide detector to. And once again... some provinces in Canada - the landlord are required to install them in rentals.
