My grandparents have recently got a poloma continuos hot water system replacing a low pressure cylinder without changing their mixers/taps.  Can anyone advise of the implications. They have only reported problems with the shower pressure, but was wondering if there are other risks.

We recently switched to a new mains pressure cylinder from a low pressure after it died. Taps are all old and have zero issues.

The only minor issue (which could be fixed but isn't big enough of an issue) is that the shower mixer obviously has a valve fitted somewhere to reduce the cold pressure to attempt to balance it with the old low pressure hot water. With the new mains pressure hot water it means it does require a bit of fiddling for a warm / cooling shower rather than something to clean an elephant..

For plain taps there is no difference, but as mentioned above its mixers that may have issues....

Thank you both.  Shower is definitely issue which we'll get fixed or get a new mixer.

Low pressure mixers often have a restrictor in the cold supply. I've got a shower mixer that has it in the body of the mixer and a basin mixer that just has one on the inlet hose.

Low pressure shower heads can have rather large holes. When you go mains pressure the gentle rain goes monsoon on you.
