Hi my 70s laundry bowl has cracked. It is a stand alone bowl that sits on a hand built tower...

I bought a modern supertub type product that fits in the gap... But I the built in tower has no screws - I think it's glued to the wall and floor and it looks like a major job to remove it...

Is there anywhere that I can buy just a bowl?

Supertub probably bolted or screwed to floor, and screws / bolts needed would vary so aren't included. Not a big job at all.

The thing is made of pieces of random wood and they won't budge. I think it's a combination of glue and nails.

Quite often things weren't deliberately glued but have stuck to new paint. Was your old tub a pressed one with rounded corners or the welded type? You can usually get either on SH on TM for $20 - $30.

It's not the welded type. It looks like it's made of similar material as a bathtub, white

Likely it’s porcelain on steel. If it is a non metric size you might not get a similar size now to drop into the hole and it would need packing. Sometimes it’s easier to replace the entire thing and you might find a reasonable one at a demolishers yard if new isn’t an option.

Oops..I see it was cracked so maybe just porcelain.

If you're wanting to keep the original frame, your local sheet metal shop may be able to make you something to suit.

In Dunedin, Allan's sheet metal make a lot of stainless sink benches.

Batman has already bought a Supertub replacement that's probably cheaper than getting a custom tub made. He just needs the courage and the right persuader to get the old cabinet out.

Usually the wooden cabinets had a couple of screws in the timber across the back. If method of fixing isn't obvious I'd be tempted to cut the front and any shelves out so the sides could be folded in. If it's still not obvious how the back is stuck to the wall at least any brutality should end up hidden behind the new cabinet. Good luck!
