Our 120cm Robinhood has been perfect for almost 20 years... i guess i cant speak for the quality of newer products though.
We have a Sirius 1.2M wide rangehood with 25mm stainless steel baffle filters and external wall motor. It's built like a tank and sucks away smell and steam with no issues running on number 2 setting. There are 4 settings. The LED strips are also also plenty bright and help with cooking.
Harvey Norman sells a wide variety of Sirius rangehood so if you see it on Siru's website but not HN, you can still ask HN to order it in for you. They are made in Italy.
Put a Robinhood unit in last year with a through roof kit and it's been working really well. Stainless mesh that can be put through the dishwasher, and it definitely picks up grease. The F&P I looked at were also good. The only Parmco ones I've had were the in-wall just above cooktop units that were hopeless.
Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.
We have a Parmco 90cm unit - its just over years old now. One of the buttons doesn't work occasionally (so down to 2 speeds rather than 3), but asides from that it sucks. Its not mind blowing, it does its job, its noisy as hell though.
BUT I wouldn't touch Parmco with "a 10ft Barge Pole"; having had a very poor experience with trying to get remediation for something clearly their responsibility, they only made good, once legal papers had been filed. Never again. :)

+1 for Robinhood
Because of the unusual layout of my kitchen, one of their models was about the only one that would fit.
Installed February 2019, it just works.
Noisy on top fan-speed setting, but a lot better than filling the kitchen with steam / smoke / cooking smells
Thanks, that's all really helpful!
Oh yeah should have said it's replacing a fisher paykal through the roof one.
I have a BOSCH DWB97LM50A, paid $1,363 incl GST from a local retailer (harvey norman etc were selling the same model for $2k). Very happy, quiet, effective, great lighting.

These types of external motor systems are game changers imo and should be given strong consideration to anyone looking at changing, it was a massive upgrade for us
Theyre super effective at getting rid of odor / steam and VERY quite operation [in our case anyways]
We have a 2015 Bellini from Bunnings. Not good at sucking and bloody noisy. I do not recommend!
iMac 27" [14.2] (late 2013), Airport Time Capsule 5th gen, iPhone13 x 2, iPad6, iPad Mini5, Spark Smart Modem 1st Gen
Panasonic TV Viera TH-L50E6Z (1080p), Panasonic Blu-ray PVR DMR-BWT835, Yamaha AVR RX-V1085 [6.1 Surround Speaker System], Apple TV 4k 64Gb (2nd gen)
Kia Sportage EX (2019), Mazda Demio (2001)
The difficult we can do immediately. The impossible takes a bit longer. But Miracles you will have to wait for.
When we built our house nearly 5 years ago, we put in all Belling appliances including the 90cm rangehood, Since that time four of our friends have pulled out their old rangehoods and installed Belling because it WORKS and is QUIET.
I do wish I got the kit to move the motor into the roof space for mine. Might be something to consider if what you're buying has such an option.

Mmm. Next time around I guess! It's a good idea. Might kick ourselves later. We went for the F&P. We've got a high ceiling and a generous roof cavity so it's got a ways to travel. Fingers crossed.
Ditto to the external motor comments. I went with a Schweigen 90cm undermount rangehood, and I think the 1600m3/hr model and it works well and is very quiet - handy when the tv is on when cooking, or listening to music etc.
I should have thought about the bathroom extraction models, and have been pondering those as a something to do at some point.
But hopefully your F&P one works out well!
Yann :)
