As per title why does it take "around 10 business days" to move an electricity account from one retailer to another? 10 business days is literally half a month!

Given smart meters there is literally no reason this should take more than a day. Or am I just crazy?

Moving from Contact to Flick (not on spot pricing).

Just seems weird to me as when I signed up it asked for a start/swap date. Weirdly this is when the 10 days begun rather than the actual swap.

I dont know if Contact are just stalling or what.

Thats nuts. Thats almost a month in non-business days.

The skeptic in me thinks that the retailers just stall as long as possible.

The law is that the company has to do the switch within 10 business days so they usually say that as a maximum. It’s usually much shorter depending on company processes

I switched to Flick recently. it took 4 days in total. You can check if the switch is completed by visiting this site ICP

It shows if the switch is in progess and what supplier you are currently with
