Hi All,

I've got a bunch of quotes for our new solar PV system, and I'm tending towards the Harrisons one. It includes

Fronius Primo 8 Gen24

18 x Aiko panels (8.6 kW)

Givenergy All-in-one 13.5 kWh AC-coupled battery

all for $36k

I have questions (I guess I could ask Harrisons, but you guys have less skin in the game)

  • What's the consensus on Givenergy as a battery brand?
  • Do I need the Givenergy gateway to be able to run the full house off-grid if necessary, or will the Fronius handle this?
  • Is it worth getting a smart solar diverter for hot water or just a timer with this system?
  • Is the AC-coupled battery the right choice in my system?
  • Is there anything else I should consider?

You need some form of gateway no matter what inverter/battery you go for.

Go for a diverter, its more accurate than a timer for putting solar into the HWC

only you can determine if an AC battery is right for you.

Thanks for the response!

I've asked them to clarify the quote, and especially whether the gateway is included.

Alright I've done a bunch of reading, I'm not confident that I know enough to determine whether an AC battery is right because I still don't fully understand the implications and relative benefits/drawbacks
