It looks as though they are cancelling subscriptions rather than blacklisting Google accounts which has been threatened in the past. I think I’ll just sit tight until I receive that email.

If the subscription was unbundled from YouTube music (I still prefer Spotify) and therefore a more reasonable monthly fee, currently $30/mth for family then I would be happy to pay in local currency. I get a lot of use/value out of YouTube but even I struggle to justify $30.

Google being accused of gathering too much information on users and not knowing what they're up to doesn't go together.

So, are they emailing users to say they need to update their plan and/or country or out and out cancelling the subscription that you've signed up to?  Not cancelling any YouTube account itself, right?

From what I've read, your Youtube Premium would just be downgraded to Free and you will need to subscribe again using the correct locale.

And I believe it will take effect when your current subscription runs out. I don't think they are cancelling and refunding people who have taken out an annual plan.

There's no way I can afford $30 per month just for youtube premium. I would have thought my $5.50 per month they were getting would have been better than zero but who knows, I await the dreaded email.

To be honest, I would love to know why they let this deal ride for so long.

Technically, it’ll be pretty easy to implement something that detects the user’s core location to their billing profile locale.

Anyone else's Youtube Premium still active?

I'm still waiting for my email and current Premium (monthly-occurring) account still alive and kicking.

No change for me, yet. I'm under no illusions that it will come, but I'll bide my time until it does.

I'm hopefull that when they do crack down on it they will offer alternative subscription options. I don't need YoutTube Music and I dont need downloads for off-line viewing. I just want add-free YouTube on my TV and if that was available at a reasonable cost I wouldn't need to take advantage of a loop hole.

Yep, our Turkish sub last renewed on 18 Jun, so hoping it’ll continue to go through. Though shocked at the exorbitant increase over the past few months (from $3-4 to typically now around $6 for family)!

The only way we could justify paying the NZ price for YT Premium Family is if we cancel Spotify Family Premium and all of us switch to YT Music - this has my music-obsessed son worried. Guess it it could be worth getting back to working out the best way to import playlists into YT Music just in case…

Funny how you guys have it from Pakistani, and Turkey. I think my sub is from Philippines.
