sonyxperiageek: For the guys on Slingshot, does the Amazon Fire TV work without having to set up a separate VPN because of Slingshot's Global Mode?

Is anyone on Slingshot with a Fire TV?

bugger that's a shame as I was considering getting one for a play and didn't want to have to go down the unblockus path if i could help it

as global mode for me is working a treat on many other devices ie:

ntpc/browser = netflix + hulu free and plus + amazon prime
samsung tv = netflix (but no hulu)
360 = netflix (but no hulu)

seems hulu is a no go for most hw based devices on ss global mode?

I got mine yesterday and set it up last night. I have Amazon Prime and I was SO blown away by this device. I love it. Plex is flawless for me, and the remote works really well.

I couldn't find a spotify app, am I blind?

The IP address will be in the same subnect as the router.

If your router is 192.168.1.1 then your IP must be something like 192.168.1.200 and the subnet will be 24. With this you can use any DNS.

Spotify isnt an official app yet, i have it on mine though, found a apk online and sideloaded it.. theres a trick though, the official spotify apk loads sideways, you have to use a rotation app to rotate the oreintation. Also you will need a mouse as the remote is fairly painful with the app.

I would think an official app is on its way though.

Mine has landed and is at the depot in Wellington now, with any luck it'll be at home when I finish work laughing

Which DNS service is everyone using with this to get prime working?

Does it play Netflix, Amazon and Hulu with no DNS changes?

Interesting, I wonder if the performance is comparable (i.e. minimal buffering) when using unblockus, etc as I assume a lot will be to get hulu and netflix going.

If there's no needfor a DNS service change then I'd expect it to be faster.

Will test later today.
