Agreed, looks amazing
running really well Using the app for my Panasonic tv. 1080p 60fps with zero issues
Blows sky sport now away . Up there with sky satellite even
The standard has been set 👍
well done 😊
I watched some of it last nite . Generally it was very good in HD but every now and then it would drop back to SD for about 20 seconds . I'm using VDSL with a about 22 Mbits max and a Chromecast 1 the original one. Just bought a Google Chromecast Ultra from First In for $60 so will be interested to see if it improves.

From Spark Sport:
Rugby World Cup Tournament Pass holders tuned in to watch tonight’s international friendly test between South Africa and Japan live on Spark Sport. Viewership was the highest of any live event to date since Spark Sport launched in March.
We’re really happy with how it went. Our platform, key performance measures and real-time monitoring tracked well. The feedback we’ve received through our channels and social media has been largely positive with most customers reporting a great viewing experience.
A small minority of customers reported isolated user-related device issues and our care teams worked to help them troubleshoot.
Our general advice to Spark Sport customers is to make sure the operating systems on all devices are up-to-date and any software updates are installed. In addition they should ensure that the Spark Sport app and any other related apps such as Chrome are running on the latest versions.
Spark Sport Rugby World Cup Tournament Pass holders have access to a catalogue of great rugby content including historical Rugby World Cup games, documentaries and exclusive content. It’s a great way for customers to test their devices and in-home set up. And if they have any issues watching the content, they can get in touch with the Spark Sport help team so we can help them get ready for Rugby World Cup well ahead of match day.

Boomers should be pleased the only thing we force on them is streaming!
You need to catch up. Boomers know more and experienced more than others as it started in their reign. The followers were later, grasshopper.

What Spark should have done is offer an STB option which they come and install for less tech savvy folk.
Why? The theme here re Sky is catch up with the times. Now you want an STB?
However, Apple TV is a great STB, I believe Spark sell that. There is no doubt an equivalent Android STB. How much hand holding do YOU need? Just ask here.
So I thought it was pretty good. Not flawless. I had no resolution or frame rate issues, but I did notice the occasional "softness" in the picture and some motion issues, which weren't really related to frame rate, but more that the motion looked artificial.
The softness could be the original broadcast, but my best guess is that the motion (mentioned by someone else who I met today who watched it on spark sport last night) is still an encoding issues.
I can't comment how it looks compared to Sky Sport Now, but I can say it was inferior to watching the AB's on Sky STB today which was a completely fantastic picture start to finish.
I am going to load up Kayo shortly and compare the SS and Kayo Springboks v Japan game to see if the softness and motion are evident there.
Also, one thing I found frustrating, is that you can't in the SS app, pause the live and then have it "buffer" so you can skip forward and backward 10 seconds. This is going to be annoying with so many matches to watch
Im watching Japan vs RSA. Excellent picture, similar to F1 on Sky =9/10 but SS which is progressive, is 10. Maybe closer. Its just sharper. Being a night match harder to get a line on it. Motion is fine, same as Sky. I did notice if there was a big kick against grandstand background there was motion shimmer. Thats my TV's artificial motion smoothing. Otherwise it's good. ALL platforms have motion blur, except our eyes. Sky has motion blur, but its minor and consistent.
Ive set AB game to record tonight, as watched it an outside bar yesterday after golf and car hunting
Sky Sport Now, my week test has run out, it wasnt great though due to motion issues. l'll get to back for another week. The status images are great, the motion is noticeable, its not terrible, its enough to be annoying.

Had exactly the same feedback from family when i got them setup today, right after the canes akl match.

Given they went straight from sky to sparksports, i wasnt expecting anything but to have that called out by family (who quite honestly will sit down and watch a cam) was quite interesting.
Personally i dont really see that much of a difference unless i really pick at the interlacing...

Yeah Troy, as you said, 1080p vs 1080i. Sky does have a great picture, but the i vs p does show.
Just had a look at The AB;s game I recorded. Looks great as it always does on Sky. But its not as sharp. If you look at Kieran Read close up, you can see a lot of detail on his face. His facial hair for example. If the clip shows a few of them, that detail is soft, on SS its still there
They are both great
Golf is on right t now, as as motion blur has been such an issue of late, Sky satellite has it too. A golf ball being putted from 20 feet parallel to the camera, its there as well. I'll revisit SSN
I logged in to watch the match on Friday night. I was at my bach where I have a prepaid Skinny wireless router, but was only there for the weekend and didn't see the value in buying a whole month of data.
So in the end I plugged my laptop into the 42inch tv via HDMI, then hotspotted the laptop on WiFi from my Vodafone mobile. I wasn't expecting much given my reasonably isolated location, but the picture was as good as anything I would expect direct from Sky satellite. No buffering, no freezing, no ghosting - it just worked.
The press release in one of the above posts said they had the highest number of subscribers online at the same time so far, but I would be interested to know what that number actually was.....

I watched the JPNvSA game on demand (not live).
My Wife asked why I was watching, and I mentioned that I wanted to see what the picture was like before the World Cup kicks off.
She sat down and watched with me for about 5 minutes, then mentioned that it looked awesome, better than any other streaming sport we had watched (admittedly, not a lot, but we have watched EPSN+ and RugbyPass).
I agree, the quality and picture looked great. No complaints from me.
