richms: Has anyone else lost the ability to cast to YouTube on their fire tv? Just not showing on my phone yet Xbox and chrome casts still are showing.

Yep - works fine.
In fact the latest firmware for the firetv now implements miracast.
You go into Settings/displays (something like that) and there is an option to turn it on.
While you have that screen up on the firetv go to screen mirroring on your android tablet/phone and it should show the Fire TV as being able to be connected to.

Works well on my note 2.
(but not on my really stupid sony xperia tablet Z which cant run an internet connection and wifi connection to the AFTV at the same time!)

Ive blocked the last few firmware update's, primarily so i can use the usb port for portable hard drive's in kodi (xbmc). The new netflix interface and miracast are appealing however, i hope towelroot eventually gets updated so i can jump on this update.

Hmm, interesting. I seemed to have lost it around the time I changed the wifi AP's to the unifi ones so will have a go putting a crap one back and see if it comes back then.

Netflix have a new version of their software on Fire TV. It is a lot better and more reliable. Go to your Mac or a PC and on the Netflix site, logon to your account details and force all nodes to log off. You should then be able to load Netflix on your Amazon Fire TV.

It's newer than Roku, so the spec is better. Works very well and the quality is excellent. The only issue I ever get is having to logon from a PC and force a log off of all devices.

I re-set up my fire tv and youtube casting and spotify connect worked for a while, and have now stopped working again. Have not unboxed my other one to setup to try yet as I want to read up on rooting them before plugging it in and letting it update itself.

I have just ordered a Amazon Fire TV, and have searched here about the power adaptors. But I am a bit unsure if I just need to purchase a travel adaptor or whether I can replace the Amazon adaptor with a suitable NZ one purchased here (if even possible).
Any help appreciated.

Just a travel adaptor is all you need.

$2.99 from the $2 shop will do it. Make sure you get the full sized 3 pin ones, as the 2 pin ones wobble and often fail to give you a reliable connection.

No issue with voltage, power adapter is rated 110 - 250V.  Recently got one myself, all you need is the power adapter, got mine from the warehouse (cause they are open late)
Good device the TV Fire, Plex works just fine.
