As Rachel says "It won't happen overnight but it will happen"

If it helps I am really enjoying the new interface on mine.... tongue-out

my gen 1 updated yesterdaycool

One thing i can't see how to do any longer is how do I remove  the items from the recently watched list.  In the old software there was an icon on each item to  do this .  Do they just fall off the edge after so many weeks??

Navigate to the item and press the options button on the remote (three lines). This brings up a submenu to remove the item from recents.

I find the interface pretty good. I often use that option button...

I have a 1st Gen Amazon Fire TV, pay for Getflix, now Netflix US ver will not work.  Netflix US works on a laptop, and the Getflix website says Yes there are issues.

Just wondering if this is affecting others, and is there any other workarounds?

Getflix's website is really clear that Netflix US only works on computers, and that's now my experience too. Until recently we've managed to nearly always (even if with a reboot of device) access US Netflix on our iPads, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TVs, but now are definitely limited to US on the laptops only - the solution for us is crude and annoying - laptop hooked up to HT via HDMI with a $6 USB remote (need to programme it into the Harmony) for US content, and normal devices for NZ content - but it gets around the problem.

Edifier is branching into New Zealand and sent me the R2000DB for review (and it's also available on Amazon Edifier R2000DB). This pair of powered bookshelf speakers have Bluetooth, Optical inputs - so I plugged this into my Amazon Fire TV, changed the settings on AFT to "Dolby Optical"... And what a sound. Unless you have a good HDMI-enable amp you probably have sound going through TV but this makes such a difference for movies. Looking forward to other models.

Just picked up a FireTV Stick V2 in the UK last week for a play.

In the UK I tested

  • BBC iPlayer
  • ITV Hub
  • All 4 - Channel 4 UK
  • My5 - Channel 5 UK

I've also side-loaded

  • 3Now
  • Kodi
  • TVNZ On Demand

I need to re-test everything now I'm back in NZ, but TVNZ On Demand requires Google Play Services which is a problem. Anyone else managed to get it working?

Interesting I tried a Prime title last night (movie) and it asked to restart the box before it could be played. It worked just fine after. Perhaps new DRM certificate?

Have seen this stuff about boxes being de-registered, but guess thats very different from just re-booting.

Just got mine setup and must say it's way better than the Fire TV Stick that had a habit of buffering  on some apps like NBC On Demand.  Tested it on that app just now and no buffering or sync issues.

One thing.  Can some one please load the app CBS News and test it.  Since Sunday when the app needed to be updated on my TV Stick and now with this new Gen 1 unit  gives me an error "CBSN Live Stream is not available now" on both stick and box.  Have logged it with CBS Interactive ..

Thanx in advance..

Looks like CBSN have geoblocked their site.  The normal DNS I use Getflix  will not override it though it overrides everything else except Netflix.  Works via a  web browser though.

Forgot all about this until the weekend wehn I got a reply back from CBSN.

"Dear Old3eyes,

CBSN is available globally on desktop and mobile web through the CBS News app, except in New Zealand and Australia.

Our apps for iOS, Android, Windows, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV are currently available in the U.S. ONLY.

We sincerely appreciate you taking time to provide your comments & feedback. Please know that our viewers are important to us & your comments will be forwarded to the appropriate team. Our product team is constantly working to improve the CBSNews experience"

Good old geoblocking.

Regards,

Old3eyes
