Hi

My Netflix on FireTV worked a treat yesterday but today FireTV tells me a new Netflix app must be installed and there does not seem to be a way to download it. Anyone else notice this? Going to the App store just reports Unavailable on the download button!

Cheers Mike

Have you changed your country under amazon.com perhaps - dont know if that would stuff it up - but....

Have you changed anything lately?

I changed my address in Amazon to the Youshop address but that was after Netflix failed. Otherwise no changes at all.

Ah ok, so deregister the FireTV and re register it, I assume the country is set during the registration process rather then at the Amazon site - right?

If you didnt change the country it should still be ok I guess.

Have you tried "Sync Amazon Content" option on the Fire TV.
Its under Settings/My Account.
That might force it to sort itself out.

Got home last evening and Netflix wouldn't update or start, so did what was suggested, de-registered my device and then re-registered it, all good now.  Also deleted my NZ address in my amazon account and set it to my You shop address.
Had to go thru and re-setup some apps again.

Thanks for all the feedback. I also tried the de register and re register which got Netflix working but attempts to stream anything just boot back to the Netflix app download in Amazon and stop streaming. So not been able to use Netflix since the app upgrade.

Update: a reboot finally fixed it. All going well now.

Cheers Mike

Hm mine has not asked for the update. Or may be it did when the kids watched it last night because this morning I was logged out of netflix. Logged in and everything worked fine and is working right now. No reg/dereg was required so far. The country on amazon account is NZ.

There was also an amazon fire update on my unit last night and it restarted.

The new version is very obvious as Netflix looks very different.

Ah. That might explain it. Updates are blocked on mine.

Yep, apparently netflix updates only after firmware update http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/software-update-version-51-1-4-t2920392

I'll hold off updating for now as some people on some providers complained that android netflix app somehow detects that you are in Nz about 25% of the time. Which means that it randomly refuses to play moives / episodes. I've experienced it myslef on Roku and a friend of mine has this problem on his Android tablet. Still the old html 5 netflix app on amazon fire tv works 100% of the time.

Time will tell ).
