Hey guys ,

Started shopping for x-mas and i'm trying to decide what to get my folks. They have slingshot and a Netflix subscription so I thought a simple, intuitive streaming device would be good. Which one of the three should I go with?

Also, what's the speed difference between the roku stick and the roku 3?

roku 3 is a bit dated now (couple of years)

Fire TV is great, especially if you are Amazon Prime member

I'm not yet a member, but considering I have Netflix and only buy from amazon once or twice a year, is Amazon prime worth it?

I used to have Netflix, hulu plus, Amazon.

Now, I only suscribed to hulu and Amazon.

If you're going to subscribe to an unblocking service, then the roku still has the best selection and compatibility of channels.

Amazon prime imo isnt worth it outside of the USA,you lose a lot of the great local benefits for shipping costs etc, and the media options dont make it worth it.

I just setup my folks with an Amazon Fire TV and a Netflix subscription and I am using DNS4ME.

Everything works very well and even my eldery folks are capable of using it with no major problems.

All up cost was $158NZD including purchase, delivery, and a local purchase of a US to NZ power adapter.

I have DNS4ME setup as my account with my folks as a separate zone.

I have slingshot in our place. global mode is on, do I still need DNS?

Roku 3 is great. The hardware is plenty fast and UI/UX is intuitive. The Plex app for Roku 3 is quite mature as well with features and functionality.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I love the Plex app on Roku, but aside from crackle, hulu, Netflix, youtube and amazon video, are there other channels work checking out in roku? I know they have google play now.

I tried vudu but it was soooooo slong I felt like I was watching a power point presentation of someone with narcolepsy.

The UFC app doesn't work as it keeps saying fightpass is not available in my region but it works fine on my ipad :(

Besides PLEX I use mine to watch the BBC, ITV, Sky News and some other UK channels. I love mine and the remote has a headphone jack which works well
