I am with Orcon and trying to pay for netflix.  Global mode looks to be working ok (router DNS is set to ISP and local devices are set to router DNS).  However I don't seem to be able to get credit card or paypal to work when signing up for the fist free month.

Credit card comes back with error" Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Please try again later." and Paypal comes back with the same " Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Please try again later."

Given its the same error this seems like a Netflix thing.

any hoops to go through now to sign up when your ISP is Orcon?  Am I missing something really obvious?  Do you still need to use UnoTV or similar?

Cheers
Andy

Global mode or unotelly only applies to service access, not whether your credit cards or NZ paypal account will be accepted, totally different issue.

Something in preparation for the NZ launch?  Blocking NZ payments from the US Site?

Anyone else having issues?

This isn't the apparently standard Netflix thing that some NZ credit cards work, and some don't ? Or does PayPal not working preclude that ?

Well I have just signed up to Netflix using my ASB Visa, and all has gone well. I just added a 0 to the beginning of my postcode (after checking it is a US zip number) and am now all signed up for the first month free. Will only be watching on my PC screen until my Fire TV arrives.

Nothing related. Most likely the credit card in use is one of those with address check and the PayPal account is not a US-account, backed by a US-issued credit card.

Use the right debit card and all is well.

I've been using a Westpac debit Visa and haven't had any trouble. Bizarrely, my account page has always said "no payment info" but it always successfully renews.

I am using ASB Visa which throws the credit card error.  I have tried an old zip I used to live at many many years ago, 90210 & a zero after my NZ post code (zero before is not a valid zip code).

Tried again with Paypal and get "This recipient does not accept payments from non-U.S. PayPal accounts."

So has Netflix tightened up NZ subscription?

PS Any recommendations for a USA based debit card?  I have a US shipping address I an use.

As I said above, no.

You are just using non-approved payment methods. Netflix never accepted non-US PayPal accounts.

I have sent you a PM earlier today, did you read it?

Open a US paypal account, send money from your NZ one to the US one, then pay from the US one.

Thats the workaround I have to use on the playstation store now since they stopped directly taking my ASB debit or credit cards. My Westpac ones never worked on playstations us store.

andynz, I had to put the 0 before the NZ post code to get Netflix to accept it, if I put it after no luck.

Unfortunately a zero before my code is not a valid ZIP code.

Then use 90210 or something, it just has to be a US zip code. I used the YouShop details.
