I have an Amazon Prime Membership which gives me access to a fair amount of music, and I have also been considering Spotify and Google Music.

One of the things that annoys me about all the services I have tried, is that I am unable to specify which music output device I want to play to, such as my airplay devices etc. It seems especially poor for Spotify which is an actual app.

I can work around the problem somewhat by changing my default output device if I have headphones attached via USB, but as yet I can't find a reliable way to airplay my music.

Anyone else have any general comments re Spotify vs Google Music?

not sure what device you are using it on, (I assume apple since you use airplay)  but on my iPad and iPhone it's trivially easy to change output devices when using spotify

I just tap the 'airplay' icon, and select from the list of devices it presents.  In my case, I have 2 x Apple Tvs (with different names for different rooms) I have bluetooth speakers for the garden, or headphones.   (The BT devices only show up when connected of course)

I am using Windows, and for other apps like foobar, I can pick which medium that program uses for output, because sometimes I might wish to output to two places at once, or if I use headphones for music and my speakers for movies or TV playback.
