Just thought I would mention this for anyone interested in NFL.

Woke up this morning to see NFL on TV One just before the 6am news.  Turns out that its also being shown on TV NZ On Demand - the 49rs Packers game was also on today.

Here is the schedule

and

Here is the live stream site.

There is also a TVNZ popup channel but I don't have any details on that.

I emailed TVNZ from their website to thanks for showing the NFL games as I was a huge fan as were my friends.

They said they were very interested to get the feedback.

If you like the NFL on tvnz it's worth spending 2 minutes letting them know.  Perhaps they'll get more games or continue to get subsequent years.

At home today so I thought it would try it out. The highlights looked pretty good, even if SD only.  I am going to enjoy the 1:30 game live.

Of course NFL Gamepass was HD was that's not free anymore so this is a nice free offering courtesy of TVNZ.

This is the content that was offered on Sommet when it was on air.  It's taken TVNZ a little while to pick it up for broadcast but is greatly appreciated.

Anyone who is an NFL fan in NZ should send feedback through to Jeff Latch @ TVNZ.  Its so easy for such content just to get dropped for no reason.  OneHD had it in Australia and dropped it - luckily 7Mate jumped on board, probably more so with Hayne being selected on the 49ers roster.  Amazingly only 100,000 people in Australia watched his debut despite the blanket media coverage.

Ok I started watching a live games. But I found the advertisement breaks really annoying. I don't mind ads but just a static screen showing we will be back in a few minutes can get tedious very quickly. I much prefer TVNZ found some advertising to fill those slots so at least it's more interesting to watch.

I find the live streams thru TVNZ Ondemand clearer than the pop up channel.

What other sports do you think they should go after? NBA? NHL?

There is plenty of both in that regard.  Even on a team by team basis (most teams have their own TV channel!).  If you have a favourite team then you might as well lobby hard - or if you think there is one or more teams more popular in NZ then suggest that.  It has to be economic to justify - and not clash with any existing sports committments (like the first two rounds of the PGA)

Just watch some of the overnite NFL game from Wembley Stadium in London on TVNZ1 .   Not HD I think  but way better than  the popup channels.  Was surprized to see the stadium full.  Would be nice to get a full house here for the March 2016 games..
