What are some of the best places to stream the latest movies to Chromecast.

Tried Google Movies last night as use Google/Android for everything else. Worked really well but still not sold on paying $7.99 for HD rental.

Are there any places legally that do it cheaper in NZ, or is that pretty standard price. If it was $5 id use much more but $8 is bit much for me.

That's how much iTunes costs as well. If you want new movies, I doubt you'll find a cheaper legal alternative. I haven't seen one.

Thats the general price of a PPV movie - Quickflix (and Ezyflix RIP) are/were the same. Works out to about $2-3/hour of viewing. Is a movie worth paying $2-3/hour to watch? How much would it have cost you at the cinema? How much from the video store?

If you want to pay $5-6/movie then you're watching it in SD. Who knew that you'd have to pay more to watch in higher quality?

Incidentally the studio/distributor take about 50% of the fee (similar to the studio/distributor fee for cinemas) unless its Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and then its higher.

Back-catalogue movies are cheaper though......

New release physical rentals used to be about $8. I think the price is worth it, considering you're not paying petrol and time to go out to a shop.

I have noticed on Google play that it is missing lots of new release stuff compared to what is out at physical video stores.
So might see if Apple or Microsoft are any better.

From what I have noticed, Apple, Google, Microsoft tend to focus on cinema releases, top 10 - 20 sort of thing. Most video shops were buying 30-50 different titles minimum on a monthly basis, lots of direct to video stuff that only had exposure in rental stores.

Apple etc seem the best place for the new stuff, Netflix for the older. I think Neon is a bit of both, but until they switch to HD, they aren't a serious contender.
