Hi

(not sure if this should be in Online Streaming Services or HTPC, mods please move if required)

Is there a way to get an HDMI input, from say rugbypass or fanpass stream, and somehow cache it so that one can pause it, rewind, replay etc, like mysky does?

I have googled around but so far have only found devices that will do this for an over the air TV signal, not an HDMI input.

Don't know if what I'm asking for is technically possible due to DRM or against the ToS.

Cheers

Wouldn't you want to cache the stream itself from the service? Not the HDMI output

Didn't think of that. Do tell.

Can't those apps natively pause and rewind as part of their interfaces?

I recall seeing an Android STB that had an actual HDMI input that let you record content from an external device.

Ill try and see if i saved the info.

@davidcole I haven't used fanpass but on rugbypass there is the ability to pause the live stream. However when play is pressed, the stream continues playing from the cache and once that is exhausted it skips ahead to the live stream.

I need to clarify that I'm looking for a simple solution that I can offer to others.

It's aweful. The software is terrible, it doesnt really do the timeslip stuff and there is a good chance the crap app they supply will just close and lose the buffer.

The hardware barely functions as a recorder without trying to play at the same time.
