I wouldn't mind a couple of weeks of quarantine at home if I were alone. Plenty of books, games, study, gardening, etc. to catch up on.

But the thought of weeks of quarantine at home with a toddler absolutely terrifies me.

No planes flights come non-stop from Europe to hear due to range limitations. As such other locations (USA?) are likely being consider for restrictions.

In addition we have yet to ban flights from anywhere, merely we banned foreign nationals (excl air / sea crew) from entering if they had been in Iran or mainland china in the last 14 days.... Considering banning flights is a dramatic change from this.

With EU-US travel restricted, trans Atlantic airfreight will slump (sure the logistics companies, Fedex, UPS etc, will continue) but they are only a small portion of Capacity,

So with routes through Asia Restricted, (reductions or cancelations from China/Korea/Japan/Tawiwan/Singapore etc

The only clear route is via the Mid east, , if we restrict EU travellers, its likely capacity on these routes will fall as well...

Hence the concern about air freighted medicines (which are around $1 billion a year, with 80%  from Europe)

If we  have to make a special flight to Europe with the Military for Pharmaceuticals, then it will be the least of our concerns as it will mean that global commerce has completely ground to a halt..... and hundred of millions will likely die from a lack of food....

Banning flights was explicitly mentioned, rather than airlines opting not to run them, but outright banning of flights seems very unlikely as it would have a major impact on air freight, and the ability for New Zealaner to return home.

Assuming any future travel restrictions are of the same as Iran & China, I wouldn't be too concerned about high value air freight like medicines begin stranded.

Due to less passenger flights, the world is awash with cheap oil (and Jet A1), plus there are abundant aircraft and crew available. If freight is high enough value, some airlines might passenger plains with few passengers just to be able to sell the hold capacity. Potentially airlines could remove sections of seats, and use that area for cargo too (like Chatham air does) - Would need to be hand loaded.

You can't ban more flights unless we aready banned flights. I think she meant travel bans like from China and Iran. People not planes?
