IMO you can't beat real food. Lots of fresh vegetables, fruit and lean meats. I'm guessing that this stuff is not made with any of those things?

Aredwood: Just got my weeks supply of Sipreme yesterday. So far I like the taste but im only 1 day in. I intend to have most of my diet being the Sipreme. With Dinner being meals delivered from www.musclechow.co.nz I have previously lived entirely off meals from musclechow. But it didn't work as often I didn't have access to a microwave at lunch. And sometimes I had to have breakfast on the road. (Im a plumber / gasfitter so im working all over the place) And cold meat / veggies taste horrible.

Will report back after a few weeks or so with how it is going for me. Thanks to @Hatch for starting this thread. As it was how I discovered Sipreme.

Glad you're testing out Sipreme and hopefully it works out. I'm keen to see what they've done with this round of flavour improvements. Sipreme guys recently sent out an email asking for feedback.

I've got a month's supply and waiting to get back to work full-time (part-time at the moment) before I go (mostly) all in. I can relate to being on the road, my last job entailed being on the road a lot of the time resulted in far too many bakery runs simply due to lack of time and being controlled by random jobs popping up.

Never tried musclechow meals, but how are they packaged? If the meals are vacuum packed in food safe plastic you could always just boil in the bag to reheat perhaps with a a 12v kettle? Just bought a zeropak vacuum sealer and have been cooking large quantities of food then vacuum sealing portions and freezing, just pop in a pot of boiling water to reheat.

I think you need to read up on what Sipreme/Soylent are. They are designed as a full food replacement. No one is saying fresh food is not good, but that's not the point of these products.
Some consume these products as a means to folllowing a ketogenic diet, and others do so merely out of convenience.

In my view, in terms of ketogenics and more importantly convenience you can't beat "non-real" food.

Update: Had to stop taking Sipreme after just 1/2 a week. As it made me fart heaps. (A big one every 5 mins, and yes they stank real bad). Good thing I don't work in a office, a coworker would have probably murdered me otherwise.

As for what was causing it - most likely the potato starch. From the Sipreme website:

Potato Starch

Starches are a form of complex carbohydrates that are made up of long chains of sugar molecules. Potato starch has a higher GI than Sipreme’s other carbs (GI = 95), and provides energy rapidly after consumption. The combination of these carbs create a sustained release of energy throughout the day.

– Source of resistant starch (RS)
– RS passes undigested through the stomach and to the colon where it acts as dietary fibre and promotes healthy gut bacteria
– The breakdown of RS produces butyrate which is a primary energy source for colonic cells.

They sent me an email asking for feedback which took me to a survey site. So hopefully they will remove the potato starch from the next version. It's a shame as Sipreme would have worked really well for me. Hopefully they will bring out Ver1.1 soon.

Rappelle: @Hatch or anyone else, I've stumbled across Sipreme and I'm interested in giving it a go- I was curious as to whether any of the people in this thread had continued with it as a partial or full meal replacement?

I use it pretty much as an entire replacement. I would say I probably have about three-four actual meals each week, and the rest is Sipreme. Since moving from New Zealand to Australia, I have replaced Supreme with Aussielent, which is our local equivalent here. If Sipreme shipped to Australia, I would use Sipreme, since it taste better IMO.

Rappelle:

Have you had any previously reported issues with the way in which it... comes out the body? yell

Seems like these companies are constantly improving their formula- hopefully this is a non-issue now.

When I was on Sipreme, it was the original version (1.0). I haven't had any issues with the way it comes out of the body, and have noticed that I fart anymore than I did pre-Sipreme. Same with Aussielent, no issues at all.

Sorry for late reply, been overseas.

Before my trip I was using it as as partial food replacement, really just to replace breakfast and lunch. Much simpler to mix up a batch at work for brekky and lunch.

No problems at all with digestion or gas. Hunger is a different thing. It's naturally not as filling as a full solid meal and obviously it's only enough calories to meet your dietary requirements not necessarily the size of your appetite.

Also bought a supply of Soylent 1.5 to try out. Sipreme has much more user friendly flavours. (But I still wish Sipreme hadn't sent me a whole box of strawberry when I had ordered flavour mix, strawberry is just foul IMO).

Didn't notice any substantial difference between Sipreme and Soylent but didn't have the chance for any long-term testing at the time.

I continue to use my original sipreme batch (v1.0) for breakfast/lunch partial replacement.  No side effects, no bad gas etc....

I mix mine in the morning by filling up a smoothie bottle with ice, adding power and water and whizzing into a slushie. Carry it to work for breakfast in car and lunch.  I'll likely get some more when I run out.

(my smoothie mixer is a sunbeam pb2000, great unit. makes awesome frozen margarita/dacquiri)
