Hope all these people walking around with their nose exposed from their mask suddenly click as to how stupid they look after realising the RATs handed out are also nasal swabs...

Who am I kidding.

Question, with many retailers offering RATs for sale, is the government going to be sending out free RATs soon?

https://covid19.govt.nz/testing-and-tracing/covid-19-testing/how-to-get-a-covid-19-test/#where-to-get-tested

I know you can go to the testing centre but if you can order them there is no point purchasing.

The Warehouse, where everybody gets a bargain has them at $32 for 5.

  • 98.47% accuracy

Ive read that RATS are generally 80%.

EDIT maybe they are 80% + GST???

Apparently the Warehouse's ones are the same as Chemist Warehouse sell for $45

Foodstuffs said they would have them by the weekend (maybe) and would be about ~$6 per test, they are selling them at cost.

Wonder how long the RATs last before expiry and possible skewed results. Wondering if best to buy as needed rather than a multi pack.

I bought mine for $32.  They where $45 but discounted at checkout to $32 and I can confirm that cost that is what I paid!

2 different brands here (BD and Carestart), one is July 22, and the other August 22. and they say to keep them below 30 degrees.

Are people buying them because they don't want to wait in line at a drive through testing station where you should be able to get them free? Or they want them before they get ill, so they don't have to go to a testing centre to get one and for it to be recorded with the MOH as a case?

CruciasNZ:

heavenlywild: The first 2 shots didn't cause wife and I too much trouble. The booster though really knocked us... body ache, fatigue... but more than happy to do it again to be safe.

All side effects disappeared after just 2 days.

Booster stuffed me for over a week, still got some symptoms from it. Joint pain and then fever / cold symptoms. Still worth getting, but definitely the most memorable jab I've ever had

I found the arm pain got slightly worse with each one. But apart from that nothing.

I've bought them as my son had a massive panic attack to the PCR test when the nurse did the test; completely blew his confidence and ability to reason... He's highly anxious at the best of times and Covid has heightended everything.. so the RATs done at home means we can likely do it and get an idea as Covid is in his year and fellow classrooms.

You have to record RAT results at https://mycovidrecord.health.nz/ anyway.

Although apparently there is not a digital solution to record RATs for kids under 12, which at the moment you have to ring up to advise as U12s don't have myCovidrecord accounts

Not much point ordering anything online from Chem Warehouse. We cancelled our recent order after waiting 5 weeks.
