Zigg:

Out of stock online at Warehouse and Chem Warehouse

Not much point ordering anything online from Chem Warehouse. We cancelled our recent order after waiting 5 weeks.

From The Warehouse:

"We've sold out of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test KitsDownload our app to be notified when it's available again."

Stuff have an article discussing price gouging concerns on RAT tests

https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/127930342/price-gouging-concerns-raised-for-rapid-antigen-tests--consumer-nz

Part of the problem is limited number of suppliers. As I understand there are only 11 approved suppliers in NZ,  where AU has 32 (and EU is almost 200)

And I have so far seen only one on the market (the Orient Gene one)

So unless more of them are made available, they will keep the prices up as long as they can.

@mattwnz:

Are people buying them because they don't want to wait in line at a drive through testing station where you should be able to get them free? Or they want them before they get ill, so they don't have to go to a testing centre to get one and for it to be recorded with the MOH as a case?

You have to record RAT results at https://mycovidrecord.health.nz/ anyway.

Really? Where is that information telling you that you have to record RAT teset results? Seems pretty pointless if your result was negative plus there's no proof you've actually done a RAT test. I haven't been recording mine, partly through time constraints when I do mine and then forgetting to do it later.

Where? Lots of places. Picking up kits from testing stations, employers, Media, standups, main site which is source of covid related details.

At least 2 of the what you need to know off the main page:

https://covid19.govt.nz/isolation-and-care/if-you-have-covid-19/

https://covid19.govt.nz/testing-and-tracing/covid-19-testing/how-to-get-a-covid-19-test/

They don't care about negatives. It's if you are you need to advise so. And employers are also asking to report outcomes to ensure regimes are kept.

But how many people that test positive will do this, and some won't have online access anyway.  People are also required to wear masks in supermarkets, but many aren't, and there are no consequences as there is no penalty, there is no requirement to show exemption proof. So anyone can say they are exempt, but don't have to show proof.

I've said it many times before. People are and will be douches. But other than calling them out, neither you or I can do much. However the first one to hospitalise someone near to them, or restrict their mates job severely hiding the fact will learn.

Also, although it may not be policy to confront people. The mask exceptions changed a little. If you legitimately are, GPs and specialists, associated disability groups approached those who are. And provided proper hard cards.

Not internet provided ones. So yes, they can ask for real exemptions now. Not the reason, but they can ask if you have one (and then tell them it's not the official supplied)

https://covid19.govt.nz/prepare-and-stay-safe/keep-up-healthy-habits/wear-a-face-mask/who-does-not-need-to-wear-a-face-mask/

I heard 2 get asked to see their hard cards recently at countdown.

There is also a 0800 for reporting. Online is not the only way (also discussed here previously)

This sounds straightforward but in reality it is not that simple.  Unless a situation like a car crash where co-existing Covid probably doesn't play a part, most deaths due to "other causes" will also be influenced/made more likely/brought forward by a Covid infection.

Last week, one of the radio stations read out an email they received from an covid Healthline employee complaining about the lack of support.

Does anyone know which radio station that was? Keen to hear the piece in full.

Thanks.

came across a real idiot today at New World, i asked her why she didnt have a mask and she told me she came into this world not wearing one so she wasnt going to start now. I asked her was she wearing clothes when she was born and then asked her did she have a brain when she was born because she wasnt using it now, she then resorted to swearing at me , when i asked the staff they said she had an exemption and not to interfere as they would sort it out, she carried on shopping. They really upset me those people.

I'd say mask wearing in shops and scanning in etc is barely 50% locally now.

I even saw some people in a supermarket yesterday who had masks hanging off one ear but not being worn.

It's akin to riding a bike, with the helmet hanging off the handlebars - that ain't going to help you if you have a crash.
