OK this is gone way over the top. I feel too many apocalypse movies have been watched by too many. I am exiting these discussions and returning to the real world for the foreseeable future. This is goodnight from me and goodnight from him and I may catch you on the flip side.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
MikeB4: To give scale to my situation. From home to the nearest Supermarket 7km then 4km to a chemist. To the Supermarket with a Chemist 9km.
Next time
"Where are you going sir?"
"To the chemist for medication."
"Drive safely"
later
"Darling, whilst we are here, shall we get some food?"
"Good idea, Mike! Lets!"

Azzura:...1 million infected in USA in 2 weeks! US possible projections 8k deaths per day 2 weeks from now.
Me: ... The "Voice of Thunder" channel is a bit dubious, and he doesn't seem to be a doctor, and certainly not a infectious disease expert.I'd take his commentary with a grain of salt.
Azzura: you watched a 16 min video in 6 or 7 min?

No, from the description the police asked him to go back to his nearer store. They didn't say he wasn't allowed to be out for that.
It was not clear to me from what @MikeB4 said that there was a chemist closer. The officer apparently told him to go to a closer grocery store - not much help when trying to get meds from a chemist.

neb:Handle9:It's happening in NZ as well. A landlord with a clue will be supporting their tenants as best they can, it's not like you'll be able to let it to anyone in this climate.
Friend of mine who rents got a call from their landlord saying, in effect, don't worry if there's problems paying the rent, we'll sort something out once this is over.
For every dickhead there's hundreds or maybe thousands of people who aren't, but you only hear about the idiots.
Sorry, mY last gasp: https://bgr.com/2020/03/26/coronavirus-symptoms-red-eyes/
”A nurse Chelsey Earnest of the Life Care Center told CNN at every patient she’s seen who tested positive for coronavirus had red eyes.”
Totally anecdotal, but worth noting, as it is something we can all easily identify, and not too much harm if wrong.
I am impressed to see the Government recognising the pressure C19 has put on General Practices from a number of different angles and moved relatively swiftly to support them.
I don't agree with everything that has been done, but on the whole, feel they have addressed things pretty quickly and decisively.

Ive been very impressed with the leading Government Departments such as MSD and MPI. Their workload has been massive in setting the rules/regs/systems...and of course MoH and probably many more.
Removed a video that is not substantiated. We don't need more "opinion" sources.

does anyone know what the workplace is in Christchurch that has a cluster of cases:
Workplace, Christchurch
8 confirmed cases, 1 probable
There are rumors that the CDC guidance on masks is going to change shortly to include the wearing of masks in everyday life.
Masks seem to be a hot topic, and it seems odd that the East and West have had such differing stances to date.

Matt McCathy is a Bestselling author, doctor & assistant professor of median at a tertiary institution. So while not official, a fairly credible source.

As a side note, the situation in the USA is much worse that NZ, but they are allowing more social contact than we are in NZ. USA specific guidance from the CDC is not intended for NZ, but quite interesting.
"He knows more about the new coronavirus than the WHO. And he shares this knowledge with the citizens. Serious, calm, in a language that everyone understands. All of Germany listens to Christian Drosten and trusts his words, even if they currently promise little good. These weeks, everyone who wants to learn more about the subject of corona than what is in the lurid headlines will learn why this is so: Many doctors are currently making statements, none of them are doing as well as the virology professor from Berlin. Germany is envied for this expert."
This is the guy we trust. He's a member of the team who has discovered SARS. Unfortunately there is no link in English language I could provide to you. Please help yourself by using the search engine.
Have posted an updated version of plot comparing rates of growth in cases in several countries in a new ‘Data, analysis, research links & related discussion’ thread. Increasingly difficult to locate info in this thread. Plus I suspect not so many here are interested in the info.

Now two plots, one looking at East vs West and the other, possible seasonality.
MikeB4:
We were out today to get some groceries and I needed some medication only available from a Chemist. We decided to drive to a Countdown that was a little further away than the closest one to our home as it has a Chemist in store a sensible thought we assumed as it meant only one stop and less risk and exposure. However we were stopped by a Police patrol and asked what our purpose was for being on the road. We told the officer that we needed some groceries and some Pharmacy only medication he told us we needed to go to the closest store to our home. When we tried to explain that we were going to a store that is a grocery store and chemist he was not interested and kept interrupting us. He told us to turn around and go to a grocery store closer. He was not interested and told us not to argue and he became quite aggressive.
I realise they are under pressure and we were polite the entire time we talked to him. He could see the mobility card on our screen and it was clear that we were being truthful. I don't believe we were being unreasonable or doing anything wrong. We turned around and went home as we did not want to get arrested. It was very upsetting and stressful. We will have to go out again tomorrow and go to a grocery and a Chemist to get they medication.
Be careful out there as this nation has very much changed.
Id expect the Police deal all day with lying no hopers, and he possibly saw you as having a tiki tour. Unfortunate, but its probably hard for them to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Beware of fake masks not compliant to the medical quality standards! The were 10.000 masks delivered to the Netherland's health authority for hospital distribution which are fake and NOT compliant! This is especially important for medical personnel who must rely on their protection equipment.
There are a lot of eastern world supplier jumping to the train asking for an up to a 3000% higher price during the last week!
